Apple released the iPhone Duo, a new foldable smartphone, and the market for protective cases for the device has opened immediately. Buyers can now purchase covers from a wide range of manufacturers, with prices starting as low as $7 for a basic magnetic clear case and reaching $129 for a premium leather folio.
Apple itself introduced two purpose-built cases for the new device. Both models feature the company's TechWoven technical fabric and include a kickstand form factor. The cases are designed with MagSafe compatibility and are currently available for purchase, though they are temporarily out of stock on Amazon.
Third-party brands are offering diverse materials and features. Pitaka sells an aramid fiber case for $50, down from a regular price of $60. The company describes the material as having a precision-woven texture and a 3D coating that provides a comfortable grip and lasting color. The design includes polished raised bezels to protect the camera bump and precision-machined cutouts for buttons and ports.
Spigen provides several options under its Ultra Hybrid and Air Fit lines. Prices for these models range from $27 to $44. Specific examples include the Ultra Hybrid Pro in clear for $37 and the Nano Pop in blueberry navy for $27. All Spigen models listed feature MagFit technology.
Leather options are available from several high-end brands. Nomad offers a Traditional Leather Folio for $129, constructed from full-grain Horween leather. SANDMARC sells a Pro Leather Case for $81 using code 9TO510, which is down from a regular price of $90. This case includes a patented aluminum mount designed to hold lenses and filters while protecting the camera. Burton Goods lists two leather models, the Heritage Leather Case at $71 and the Pocket Book Leather Case at $89, both available with additional discounts using the code DUO10.
Budget-friendly alternatives are available from brands like Baseus, ESR, and elago. The Baseus Gradient Blue case costs $30 and features a 360-degree rotating magnetic ring that doubles as a stand. This specific model is currently free when purchased with the brand's latest Qi2 MagSafe power bank. ESR offers hybrid cases with flex stands for $30 and $40. elago sells magnetic silicone and clear cases for $16 and $20.
Other notable entries include the OtterBox Defender Series Pro XT Case at $90 and the Lumen Clear MagSafe Case at $76. FNTCASE offers a wide array of translucent and matte options, with prices starting at $19. Mkeke sells a woven case for $30. TORRAS provides magnetic stand cases in plastic and leather for $70 and $90 respectively.
The availability of these cases marks the completion of the initial launch ecosystem for the iPhone Duo. Apple's own TechWoven cases and the third-party leather and plastic covers are now in stock across major retailers. The range of materials includes technical fabrics, aramid fiber, silicone, and full-grain leather, catering to different price points and functional needs for the new foldable device.
