Pueblo residents will enjoy a final stretch of warmth on Friday, Oct. 23, with a high of 80 degrees, before temperatures drop by 30 degrees over the next two days. The shift marks the end of a warm spell as a cold front crosses Colorado, bringing cooler air and increased rain chances to the region.

Morning temperatures in Pueblo started in the 50s. Clouds broke around 10 a.m. along Interstate 25, allowing sunshine to warm the afternoon. This pattern provides a brief respite before the weather turns. The front advances from the west, carrying cooler air that will push Saturday’s high down to the 50s.

Rain is likely to accompany the temperature drop. Friday’s chance of precipitation in Pueblo’s south side is between 10% and 20%. That probability rises substantially during the weekend. The front may also generate thunderstorms farther south and east, including along the southern portion of Interstate 25.

Neighboring communities face similar conditions. Canon City expects a high of 75 degrees with a 20% to 30% chance of afternoon showers. Woodland Park will see a high of 58 degrees with rain chances arriving for the weekend. Monument and the Tri-Lakes area are forecast for a high of 69 degrees, followed by Saturday highs in the 50s. Walsenburg and Trinidad will reach 73 and 74 degrees, respectively, marking their warmest days in the next week.

The eastern plains may see thunderstorms return by Friday evening after a sunny start. Afternoon temperatures there will reach the 70s and 80s. Mountain areas will stay cooler, with highs in the 60s and lows in the 30s. Flooding remains a concern in southwestern Colorado as water levels recede slowly.

Conditions are scheduled to improve next week. The forecast calls for sunshine and partly cloudy skies, with temperatures gradually warming into the 60s. The preliminary Halloween outlook lists dry weather and temperatures in the 50s and 60s, though that projection could change.

The weather shift is immediate and measurable. Pueblo goes from 80 degrees on Friday to the 50s on Saturday. Rain moves in as the air cools. The warm spell ends Friday afternoon.
