Hilary Rosen has been appointed chair of BAFTA, taking charge of an organization that oversees awards, industry leadership, and year-round development programs for film, games, and television talent. She succeeds Sara Putt, who completed a three-year term.
Rosen joined the Academy's Television Committee in 2021 and later became its chair. In that role, she helped shape the Television and Craft Awards and oversaw their juries. Her appointment follows a thorough election process held by the organization.
Outside of BAFTA, Rosen works as director of commissioning at UKTV, where she leads the development of original scripted and unscripted content. She will now oversee the Academy's operations alongside two newly appointed deputy chairs, Ade Rawcliffe and Andrew Miller, who will serve two-year terms.
The Academy has also seated several new committee leaders. Charu Desodt and Caroline Levy were named chairs for the Games and Television Committees, respectively, while Nahrein Kemp took the role of LIT Committee Chair. Shrina Shah, who chairs the governance and appointments committee, joins the Board of Trustees.
Rosen described the promotion as "a great privilege." She added, "I have long been passionate about everything BAFTA does to promote the screen arts and champion talent across the screen industries." Rosen stated she is confident the new board will continue the work of its predecessors.
Rosen will lead the Board of Trustees as it oversees the Academy's awards, industry leadership, and talent development programs.
