Google caps Gemini Android recent chats at five
The update consolidates settings into a single page and moves the search function to the top right corner of the navigation drawer.

Five is the new limit for recent chat history in the Gemini app on Android. Google began distributing the change through a server-side update on Thursday, October 23. Users do not need to download a new version of the app to see the modification.
The navigation drawer has been reorganized to reduce visual clutter. The search function now sits in the top-right corner. New chat remains the first item in the list. Library has moved directly beneath New chat, replacing its previous position near the bottom of the drawer.
To manage the list length, the app displays only the five most recent conversations by default. A More option appears below these entries. Tapping it expands the full list. Subscribers to the AI Ultra tier see a complete menu that includes New chat, Library, Images, Scheduled, Daily brief, Customize, Students, Videos, and Gems.
Google has also unified the settings interface. Preferences were previously split between the account menu and a separate Gemini Settings area. The new design combines all controls onto one page. The account menu now handles only account switching, feedback, and help requests.
The new settings page opens with Manage account and Usage limits. A Preferences section follows, listing Notifications, Personal Intelligence, Avatar, Task settings, Theme, Skills, Voice, Media, Device controls, Cart and orders, and Gemini Notebook. Theme is marked as a new addition in this section.
Data and privacy controls occupy the next section. This includes Import memory, Contact info from your devices, Gemini Apps Activity, Your public links, and the Privacy Help Hub. The page ends with a Get support section that lists Help, Report a problem, About, and Updates.
Android users are receiving this update now. The same interface changes reached iOS, macOS, and the web app last week. That release coincided with the launch of Gemini 4 Argon. Recent app developments also include Gemini Notebook becoming a Connected App and free users moving to Auto models.
