OnePlus has begun distributing the stable build of Android 17 to the OnePlus 15 and the OnePlus Pad 4, completing the software transition roughly one week before the original deadline. This initial release in India confirms the end of OxygenOS, as these two models are the first devices to migrate entirely to the ColorOS interface.

The company had originally scheduled these updates for October 29. By launching the stable version now, OnePlus has accelerated the timeline for the first wave of users. The software had previously been available in beta testing, but it is now open to all regular users in the region.

OnePlus described the new software as a shift toward more intelligent interactions. The company stated that ColorOS 17 is designed to help users turn ideas into finished work using artificial intelligence. The update aims to reduce friction when moving between different tasks and devices, allowing the technology to adapt more naturally to the user's habits.

The move follows a period of significant operational changes for the brand. After scaling back most global operations, OnePlus announced that OxygenOS would be phased out. The customized interface, which began as a near-stock Android experience, eventually evolved into a global version of Oppo's ColorOS. The retirement of the older software aligns with this consolidation of the product line.

Only the OnePlus 15 and the OnePlus Pad 4 are included in this first batch. The company has confirmed that other models will receive the update in subsequent waves. The OnePlus 13 is set to get the software on October 30. Previous generation flagships and various Nord models are also on the list for future updates.

The rollout is expected to expand to other regions in the coming days, though specific dates for those markets have not yet been confirmed. The early arrival in India follows recent reports that the OnePlus 15 sold out in the United States after the company reduced its global presence. The brand has also recently unveiled the OnePlus 16, which features a 9,000 mAh battery.
