Samsung is preparing to release one more foldable phone this year. The Galaxy W27 will go on sale in China on October 29, according to leaker Ice Universe, who posted an image of the device. The launch date falls six days after Oct. 23.
The leaked image shows a glossy blue back panel with gold accents around a triple-camera array. For 2026, the top Samsung model is the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and the W27's specifications and design match that phone. The W27 would be built on the Ultra rather than the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8.
Samsung has released China-only variants of its Galaxy foldables each year. The W series is a rebranded version of Samsung's top foldable for that year. The 2024 Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition was one exception; it received a wider release. Samsung has not confirmed the W27 or its launch date.
The W series phones have typically included extra design flourishes and elaborate packaging. Wide-format foldables are gaining ground in China. Xiaomi's latest foldable has nearly the same form factor, and Huawei has released wide foldables longer than any other maker.
Samsung has said the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is performing well and has pointed to the iPhone Duo for drawing attention to it. Analysts have said foldable display shipments will rise 44% in 2026 as wide foldables arrive. Samsung has also pushed Android 17 updates to several Galaxy devices.
Samsung has several new foldables planned for 2027. If the leaked date holds, the W27 on Oct. 29 would be the last foldable Samsung releases in 2026.
