Elon Musk has poured more than $76 million into his personal political committee, America PAC, during the first two weeks of October. The funding is intended to bolster Republican candidates in the final phase of the midterm elections. This significant infusion of capital was reported in a filing submitted to the Federal Election Commission on Thursday evening, marking a substantial increase in support for the party just before voters head to the polls.

The committee has been active in the final weeks of the campaign cycle. Since July, the group has received over $165 million in donations from Musk. Across the entire election cycle, his contributions to Republican political organizations exceed $445 million. This total establishes him as the largest known individual donor in the current midterms. The recent spike in funding reflects a strategic push to influence key races before the final vote count.

The Texas Senate race absorbed the largest share of the new money. The committee allocated $15.2 million to that single contest in the first half of October. This amount is double the sum spent in that state during the summer months. Of that total, $12.4 million was directed at attacking Democratic candidate James Talarico. Another $2.8 million was used to promote Republican Ken Paxton. Daily reports indicate that an additional $9.1 million was spent against Talarico after the initial filing period, bringing the total spending against him to nearly $28 million. This figure represents about 40 percent of all funds the PAC has deployed to support or oppose candidates this cycle.

The committee also shifted its advertising strategy toward digital platforms. It spent $11.4 million on online ads during the two-week period. This amount is nearly equal to the combined costs of traditional mail and texting campaigns. The group entered the final stretch of the campaign holding close to $47 million in cash after spending nearly $43 million in the recent period. America PAC did not provide a comment regarding the new expenditures or the strategic shift in media buying.

Musk has also engaged directly in the political discourse surrounding the Texas contest. On Wednesday, he posted on the social media platform X that something is deeply wrong with Talarico. He later described the Democrat as a creep and claimed without evidence that Talarico would vote to take away children and transition them. Earlier in the month, Musk amplified a false claim that Talarico had received treatment at a mental health facility. Talarico responded on the same day, stating that something is deeply wrong with a political system that allows one trillionaire to buy his own personal US Senator.

Current polling suggests the race remains competitive. An Emerson College survey of 1,000 likely Texas voters, conducted from October 17 to 19, found Talarico leading by two percentage points. He holds 48 percent support compared to Paxton's 46 percent. The margin is within the poll's three-point error range. The outcome carries significant implications beyond the state. If Democrats secure control of the House, lawmakers have indicated they will investigate Musk's role in the Department of Government Efficiency. They also plan to review federal contracts held by his companies and numerous conflicts of interest.

Silicon Valley Democrats have expanded their focus to include SpaceX's Starshield satellite service in Ukraine. Representatives Sam Liccardo, Jimmy Panetta, and Ro Khanna sent a letter to the White House demanding an investigation. The group of lawmakers pledged that the next Congress will closely scrutinize federal funding awarded to Musk's businesses. These developments highlight the growing political stakes tied to the billionaire's corporate interests and his extensive involvement in the current election cycle.
