Fourteen points separated Roseville from Coon Rapids on Friday night, a margin that secured the Raiders the Metro Maroon subdistrict title and ended a four-year wait for the honor. The victory capped a regular season where Roseville finished 4-4, marking their best record since 2017.
Senior quarterback Chase Browning drove the offense, throwing for 162 yards and three touchdowns in the final game of the Class 6A regular season across the east metro. Browning described the moment as an amazing feeling, noting that the team had worked hard to see those efforts pay off.
The results across the region confirmed the depth of the 6A bracket. Centennial defeated Anoka 38-6, a score that likely locks in a No. 3 playoff seed for the Cougars. Anoka allowed just six points, the first time all season they were held to single digits.
In Mounds View, the Mustangs secured sole possession of the Metro East title with a 22-16 win over White Bear Lake. Tanner Jude rushed one yard for the go-ahead score with 65 seconds remaining, followed by a two-point conversion. Preston Johnson intercepted a pass on the next drive to close out the contest. The defense limited White Bear Lake quarterback Wyatt Stachowiak to six completions on 24 attempts.
Forest Lake’s Mack Jurkovich posted the night’s largest individual statistical output, rushing for 245 yards and two touchdowns in a 31-13 victory over Stillwater. The win secures a No. 2 seed for the Rangers. Jurkovich, a committed St. Thomas recruit, finished the year with 1,600 rushing yards.
East Ridge beat Woodbury 42-31, with Logan Tretter scoring on the ground and Elias Mather returning an interception for a late touchdown. In Park, Manny Vargas scored twice in an 18-10 win over Eastview, including a 75-yard punt return.
The final whistle blew on the most dramatic finish in the south metro. Lakeville South sophomore Dylan Nelson kicked a 36-yard field goal with one second left to upset Rosemount 17-14. The result complicates the seeding landscape for the upcoming Class 6A playoffs.
